What are Civilian jobs?

There are just over 130 civilian positions with the Regina Police Service. Detailed information on civilian jobs is available through the Human Resources Section, 3rd Floor, 1717 Osler Street, Regina.

 

Clerical/Administrative

provide clerical support for police members such as answering the switchboard, typing police reports or court documents, maintaining worksheets, etc. The administrative staff in the Police Information and Evidence Management Section work 10 or 12-hour rotational shifts as well as day positions. Grade 12, good typing skills (50 wpm), previous office experience, word processing, computer knowledge and the willingness to work shifts are essential.

 

Communications Officer

answers and evaluates calls for service, answering both emergency (9-1-1) and non-emergency phone calls, works 12-hour rotational shifts.

Information, Application and Selection

 

Fleet Services (Garage)

working 12-hour rotational shifts, perform the necessary tasks to keep police vehicles ready for use. Duties include washing and cleaning vehicles, pumping gas, changing tires, oil and performing minor mechanical maintenance on vehicles. Applicants must have Grade 12 and some experience in vehicle maintenance and repair. There are also Automotive Technician positions.

 

Maintenance/Cleaning

perform duties such as cleaning and washing hallways, washrooms, moving furniture, shoveling snow, cutting grass and performing minor building maintenance. Applicants must have Grade 12; a Fireman’s Certificate is preferred and some experience in building maintenance is an asset. The Regina Police Service also hires relief casual Matron/Cleaners for work in Detention.

 

Evidence Management Unit

looks after storing exhibits, lost and found property and stationery inventory. Applicants must have Grade 12, plus some typing and computer experience.

 

Summer and Volunteer Positions

the Regina Police Service may hire summer students as projects/assignments permit. Volunteer positions are available in Victim Services.
