Obtaining a Pardon
The Regina Police Service charges a $30.00 fee for Criminal Record Checks. (CASH OR INTERAC ONLY)
The person requesting the criminal record check must appear in person at the Criminal Record Office located at the Regina Police Service 1717 Osler St 2nd floor between 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday to Friday.
A Security Clearance Consent Form for a Criminal Record check is available at the front counter in the Criminal Record office. You will be required to list all names used (maiden, alias, previous names used other than primary name). All consent forms are retained on file by Regina Police Service.
You will be required to produce two pieces of identification showing your current Regina address and full date of birth (Driver’s License, Social Insurance Card, Health Services Card, Birth Certificate, Passport, Treaty Card, FAC).
If your company or organization is responsible for the well-being of one or more children or vulnerable persons and is a position of authority or trust relative to those children or vulnerable persons and to whom or to which an application is made for a paid or volunteer position, you should know that new legislation (Bill C-7) allows the Organization, Firm or Company to request the applicant to consent to a search to determine if the applicant has received a pardon for a sexual offence. Consent is necessary. If the consent was signed by the applicant, the results will be contained in this letter. Otherwise the applicant must attend the Regina Police Service to sign the consent form. Again, this is at the request of the Organization, Company or Firm.
If you have a criminal record it will be verified by way of fingerprints. The Regina Police Service will verify convictions resulting from local charges.
If the conviction is from an outside agency we will fingerprint you, and you will then need to mail your fingerprints to the RCMP in Ottawa. The RCMP will charge you an additional $25.00 for this search.
Once your criminal record check has been completed it will be mailed to you at your home address.
In the event the Criminal Record Check is negative (no Criminal Record), a letter will be generated immediately indicating the results based on name search only.
In the event the Criminal Record indicates “A criminal record may exist which must be verified in Ottawa by fingerprint submission”, this is to be interpreted that the applicant may have a criminal record; however, Regina Police Service cannot release this information because fingerprint comparison is necessary through Ottawa. Regina Police Service does not have fingerprints on file to make the comparison. Fingerprints are taken and provided to the applicant along with an Information Request Form to forward to “RCMP Identification Services Box 8885 Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0R2”. Ottawa will respond by letter directly to the applicant who in turn, will produce the results of the Criminal Record to the Organization/Firm or Company.
