The Regina Police Service has confirmed the name of the 43 year-old male who is the victim of a homicide that occurred in Regina on Thursday, January 28, 2010. This is the second homicide in Regina in 2010.
The victim is 43 year-old Jack Andrew LEVER, DOB: 1966-04-18, of Regina.
A 46 year-old female, Shirley Ann MATECHUK, DOB: 1963-11-29, of Regina, appeared in Provincial Court this morning, January 29, 2010, charged with Second Degree Murder [235(1) CC] in connection with this case. The investigation is ongoing, although police are not seeking other suspects at this time.

A 26 year-old Regina male faces a number of charges, including Attempt Murder, in connection with an incident which resulted in serious injury to a 22 year-old male victim on the night of Wednesday, January 27, 2010.
At approximately 9:44 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, police received a call requesting emergency medical assistance for an injured male and female. The two injured persons were in the area of Dewdney Avenue and Elphinstone Street. Police and EMS arrived to find a 22 year-old male who had sustained apparent stab wounds and an 18 year-old female who had injuries consistent with a physical assault. Both were taken to hospital; the male victim’s injuries were described as serious. Investigation led to a house in the 1400 block of Elphinstone Street, believed to be the site of an altercation which became an assault with a weapon. A 26 year-old male was located at this residence. He initially received treatment for injuries; further investigation led to his arrest and charges.
Twenty-six year-old Brent John DUROCHER, DOB: 1983-02-18, of Regina, is charged with Attempt Murder [239 CC], Assault Causing Bodily Harm [267(b) CC] and Breach of Recognizance [145(3) CC]. DUROCHER made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2010.

The sudden and suspicious death of an adult male on Thursday, January 28, 2010, in a house on the 2300 block of Winnipeg Street is now being treated as a homicide and a 46 year-old Regina female is charged in connection with this case.
At approximately 7:34 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010, the Regina Police Service Communications Centre received a call requesting EMS for an injured person in a residence in the 2300 block of Winnipeg Street. Police and EMS arrived and located an adult male, who was confirmed deceased at the scene. Police have identified the victim as a 43 year-old male from Regina. The deceased person’s next-of-kin have been notified; his name will be released shortly.
Forty-six year-old Shirley Ann MATECHUCK, DOB: 1963/11/29, of Regina is charged with Second Degree Murder [235(1) CC]. MATECHUK will make her first court appearance on this charge in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. today, Friday, January 29, 2010. The investigation is ongoing.

The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, is conducting a death investigation after a female was found, deceased, in a vehicle parked just off the 2300 block of Dewdney Avenue early Sunday morning, January 17, 2010.
Police, EMS and Firefighters were dispatched to the 2300 block of Dewdney Avenue at approximately 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2010, for a report of a female, possibly deceased. Upon arrival, police found a 28 year-old deceased female in a truck. There is nothing apparently suspicious about the death at this time; however, the Regina Police Service, with the Office of the Chief Coroner, will continue to investigate the circumstances.
This investigation is ongoing. There are no other details for release at this time.

Two Regina males, an adult and a youth, have been charged in connection with the ongoing investigation of the death of 26 year-old Raymond Bernard GARDYPIE. GARDYPIE’s body was discovered on Sunday, January 10, 2010, when police and EMS were called to a house in the 1000 block Retallack Street just after 12:30 a.m.
As part of the ensuing homicide investigation, police arrested two male suspects at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. The two were arrested without incident in the area of the 1500 block of Angus Street. Further investigation led to charges against these individuals.
Twenty year-old Joshua Brendan BIRD, DOB: 1989-02-09, of Regina is charged with Second Degree Murder [235(1) CC]; Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC]; Breach of Recognizance [145(3) CC]; and Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]. BIRD will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010. A 17 year-old male, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with Second Degree Murder [235(1) CC and Breach of Probation Order [137 YCJA]. The youth will make his first court appearance on the charges in Youth Court at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.

The Regina Police Service is investigating a robbery, earlier today, of a financial institution in the 4200 block of Albert Street and asking the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the individual responsible.
At approximately 11:15 a.m., on Friday, January 8, 2010, police were dispatched to a report of a robbery at a financial institution in the 4200 block of Albert Street. Employees indicated that one male entered the premises, approached staff and demanded cash. No weapon was seen and no one was physically injured in this incident. The male received an undisclosed amount of money and left the building. It is not known if a vehicle was involved.
The suspect is described as: male, Caucasian, approximately 40 years old, about 6” tall, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, glasses and black shoes.
