The Regina Police Service is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 2012 Canadian Police Canine Association Championship Trials September 6-9, 2012.
The event is a working seminar for Law Enforcement Dog Handlers from across Canada. It is comprised of a seminar for the canine teams and three days of competition. It gives the teams an opportunity to share training techniques with one another and measure their proficiency against teams from across the country.
The competition events are scenarios designed to replicate real work done by these teams in their communities every day.
The goals of the event are to generate camaraderie between the various services and for these teams to learn from one another through training and competition that will translate to a high level of service delivered to their communities in the field of canine work.
The event is highlighted by a public day to be held on September 9th, 2012. Admission is free to the public. Those attending will have opportunity to view the last three events of competition including obedience, agility and a criminal apprehension scenario which each team completes. It also highlights a demonstration usually done by the canine teams working in the fields of narcotics or explosives detection. Finally, there is often a "just for fun event" such as "fastest dog competition."
We hope you will join us to cheer for your favorite canine teams!
Regards,
Corporal JR Tunison and Constable Jody Lorence
