There are several signs that a home may be a grow operation site. Several of these signs in combination with one another may indicate a grow.

  • Tampering with the electrical meter resulting in damaged or broken seals.
  • No one seen coming in and out of the home or only late at night.
  • Late night or short visits from various people.
  • No garbage picked up on garbage day.
  • Cables running to and from odd places and usually along the walkway or ground.
  • Windows always covered.
  • Excessive fertilizers, nutrients, etc being moved into the house.
  • Unusual venting.
  • Additional roof top venting or build up of ice around the stack.
  • High condensation in the home or on the windows.
  • Unkempt homes and lawns.
  • Odours like "rotten eggs", "skunk", or "rotten cabbage" coming from the home.
  • Loud noises of fans or venting equipment coming from the home that makes a "humming" sound.
  • Excessive water hoses hooked up outside. These may also run inside the home.
  • Security equipment beyond the usual home alarm system. This may include guard dogs, high fences, keep out signs etc.
  • Unusual amounts of steam from vents in cold weather.
  • New neighbours moving in no, or very little, furnishings or personal belongings into the home.
  • Localized power surges in the neighbourhood.
