History
The purpose of the Regina Police Service Victim Services Unit is to assist victims of crime and traumatic events by providing them with information, support, and referral services in a sensitive and timely manner. Our primary focus is on violent crime, break and enters, and incidents involving serious injury or death.
After reviewing police files or receiving a referral from a police officer to assist, we initiate contact with a victim. However, anyone is welcome to call our office with any questions or concerns or if in need of assistance.
Two Aboriginal Resource Officers are available within the Victim Services Unit to respond to the needs of the aboriginal community, it's victims and their families.
The Regina Police Service Victim Services recognizes the dedication of its staff of volunteers. These individuals are highly trained community members who have undergone an extensive security clearance to provide services for victims in a sensitive and confidential manner. All Volunteer Support Workers working in the Regina Police Service Victim Services Unit participate in a comprehensive training program relating to victimology issues, police procedures, crime prevention, the criminal justice system and Regina community resources for referral purposes.
If you have an interest in volunteering at least 4 hours per week at Victim Services, or have any questions concerning the unit, please contact the Coordinator of the Unit by calling 777-8660.
