The Street Crimes Unit is comprised of Property Crimes, Graffiti investigator, SHOCAP, Collision Coordinator and Robbery Coordinator.
The Property Crimes unit investigates break and enters to both residences and businesses. They also investigate thefts of property excluding vehicles. The Property Crimes Unit also investigates files that involve stolen property and Pawn shops.
The Graffiti Investigator is a relatively new position. This person investigates graffiti files and looks to identify those responsible by examining their “tags”. The Graffiti Investigator works closely with businesses, residents and the City of Regina Bylaw Enforcement unit, to encourage Graffiti reporting so these files can be investigated.
The Stolen Auto Unit investigates files involving stolen vehicles. This unit, along with our Community partners in Justice, SGI, and Corrections, Public Safety and Policing, participates in the Auto Theft Strategy to prevent auto thefts and to hold offenders to account.
The SHOCAP unit – Serious Habitual Offenders Comprehensive Action Plan – provides intensive supervision of all individuals who have been designated SHOCAP targets. This Unit works with Justice and Corrections, Public Safety and Policing to determine who is designated as a SHOCAP target.
The Collision Coordinator and the Robbery Coordinator oversee major files in order to ensure investigations are conducted thoroughly. The Robbery Coordinator reviews every robbery file that is reported to police. This ensures any trends/similarities are identified as well. The Collision Coordinator reviews all collisions that are serious in nature. Their role is to ensure the investigation is thorough and appropriate charges are laid (if warranted).
