The Regina Police Service has charged one young person in relation to a weapons offence that occurred at approximately 11:14 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017, in the 6200 block of Rochdale Blvd. at a business there. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
The Regina Police Service had responded to the business along with the Regina Fire Department and EMS, to assist after it was reported there were people in the business coughing from some type of substance or fumes in the air. It was confirmed later to be some type of spray. There were about 30 people in the business at the time.
The investigation revealed three youths had left the business just prior to this occurring. They were located and identified by police and it was determined that a type of bear spray was released in the washroom of the business.
A fourteen year old male, who can’t be named in accordance with provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with:
- Criminal Code Section 90 (young person carrying a concealed weapon)
- Criminal Code Section 430(4) (young person committing mischief under $5000)
- Criminal Code Section 245 (young person administering noxious thing)
The youth was released with a court date of October 30, 2017.
