On Friday, September 8, 2017, members of Regina Police Service – including Special Weapons and Tactics, Canine, Gang Unit, Street Crimes Unit and Community Services Division – were used in drug enforcement activity in the city of Regina, as a result of criminal investigation. Three residential addresses were subject to searches under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) in the early evening hours. These locations were all in the 1000 block of Retallack Street.
During the course of executing these high-risk warrants, SWAT members used tactics involving loud noises and explosions. Residents of the area around the target addresses were advised by the Regina Police Service Communications Centre that the noise was part of a police operation and asked to shelter in place until the enforcement action was completed.
The police enforcement action resulted in a number of arrests. Investigation is continuing at this time and a more detailed media release will follow as soon as is practicable.
No further information to release at this time.
