An adult male and female are charged after investigation into a stolen van. The 23 year-old male accused also faces drug charges and the female is charged with a breach of undertaking.
On Friday, May 26, 2017, at approximately 10:48 p.m., a member of the property crimes unit observed what he believed to be a stolen vehicle: a white Plymouth van was being driven in the area of 8th and Retallack Street, with no headlights on. The officer was aware that a vehicle matching this description had been reported stolen at about 8:25 p.m. earlier in the evening. (The van was stolen from a parking lot at a business in the 4600 block of Albert Street. The vehicle was not locked and the keys were inside.) The officer and other police members were able to covertly observe the van, which had two occupants. At approximately 11:15 p.m., the van got hung up on a curb in the 100 block of Albert Street North and both suspects fled. One suspect refused officer demands to stop and was taken into custody with the help of a police canine. He was treated by EMS at scene and then transported to hospital for further treatment. Further investigation led to charges against both individuals.
Twenty-three year-old Sunray James CRANE, DOB: 1993-08-14, of Regina, is facing two charges of Possession of a Scheduled Substance (morphine, methamphetamine), [4(1) CDSA]; and Possession of Stolen Property under $5000 [355(b) CC].
