A 19 year-old male has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property in connection with a stolen auto incident over the weekend.
On Friday, May 26, 2017, at approximately 6:40 p.m., property crimes investigators observed a Chev Malibu, near Rae Street and 5th Avenue, which matched the description of a stolen vehicle. The license plate on the vehicle was found to be a stolen license plate from another vehicle. A canine unit in the area turned on emergency equipment and attempted to pull over the Malibu, but the driver picked up speed and fled. Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle and continued their observation. A spike belt was safely deployed in the area of 8th Avenue and Athol Street. The vehicle eventually stopped in the area of 2nd Avenue and King Street. The driver of the vehicle was apprehended; a second suspect fled the scene on foot. Investigation led to charges against the male alleged to be the driver.
