*** UPDATE: We have received notification from SaskTel that the phone issue has been resolved. Thank you for your patience. As always, our admin. line is 306-777-6500. In an emergency, including reporting a crime in progress, call 9-1-1
The Regina Police Service Communications Centre is currently experiencing difficulties with some incoming 9-1-1 calls and administration calls today. Only those calls from a cellular device are being affected. It appears to be the result of a province-wide cellular network issue. The issue was first noticed at about 9:54 a.m. today. Service was restored briefly at 10:48 a.m., but is currently intermittent.
At this time Police Communications can only receive calls from landlines, so this issue has the potential to affect anyone trying to call from a cellular device. Anyone who needs to get through to 9-1-1 should find the nearest landline. Calls made between 9:54 and 10:48 were affected with issues like: no voice path, fast busy signal, dropped calls and disconnected calls.
The Regina Police Service Communications Centre is currently monitoring the issue and keeping in touch with the service provider. Until the issue is resolved, Police Communications is urging anyone trying to call 9-1-1 to use a land line.
