The Regina Police Service is investigating a collision and rollover that occurred just before noon on the Ring Road today (Wednesday).
At 11:56 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, police were dispatched to the Ring Road, near the McDonald Street exit for a report of a collision. Through investigation, it appears the collision occurred between two vehicles which were travelling in the south-bound lanes of the Ring Road. A school bus, empty except for the driver, was in the left-hand lane and a half-ton truck was in the right lane, both south-bound. Preliminary investigation indicates the truck made an lane change, contacting the front, passenger-side corner of the bus. The truck was carried on the front bumper of the bus as the bus drove into the green space between south and northbound lanes. The truck then rolled several times across the north-bound lanes, coming to rest against a fence on the (north)east side of the Ring Road. The driver of the bus was unhurt and declined EMS. The driver of the pickup did not appear to sustain any serious injuries, but was taken to hospital by EMS for assessment.
The Regina Police Service will continue the investigation. It’s anticipated there will be a charge at the conclusion of the investigation.
