On March 16, 2017 at approximately 10:05 p.m. police were dispatched to the Regina General Hospital for a report of a weapons related assault. A male had entered the emergency room with injuries and it was determined that he was forcibly confined and assaulted.
Investigation led to a residence on the 700 block of Elphinstone Street. Information received indicated that firearms were inside the residence. Police arrived and three females and a male exited and were taken into custody, however more suspects remained inside the residence. Traffic was restricted in the area and residents in the area were instructed to remain in their homes as SWAT, CNT, and EDU attempted to extract the remaining suspects from the residence. SWAT deployed CS gas into the residence and at approximately 7:10 a.m. this morning, a male and female exited from the residence and were taken into custody. The house was confirmed to be clear of occupants and traffic restrictions were lifted. Police are still holding the residence for investigative purposes.
It’s expected there will be further details as to charges as the investigation progresses. Anyone who has information that could assist police in this investigation is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 777-6500 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
