On March 10, 2017, at 8:50 p.m. the Regina Police Service was dispatched to the 2000 block of McDonald St. to respond to a reported vehicle in the area there driving dangerously at high speeds. Moments later, the same vehicle was involved in a Hit and Run in the southbound lane of Broad St. close to 11th Ave with one other vehicle. Finally the vehicle was involved in an accident at Victoria Ave. and Broad St. when it hit two other vehicles and a sign.
Officers attended to Victoria Ave. and Broad St. and a 17 year old male was arrested and taken into custody.
An adult male and female, occupants of one of the vehicles hit, were treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The occupants of the other two vehicles were not injured.
The young person, a 17 year old male, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing 6 charges including:
- 255(2) CC – Driving While Impaired Causing Bodily Harm X 2
- 254(3)(A) CC – Fail or Refuse to Provide a Breath Sample
- 249(1)(A) CC – Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- 252 (1.1) CC – Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident
The young person will be released today with a court date of April 12, 2017.
