A 32 year-old male was charged earlier this week in two recent robberies, as well as an incident of shoplifting. One of these robberies involved a suspect with a firearm.
The cases involved are as follows:
- On October 18, 2016, police were dispatched to a robbery at a convenience store in the 100 block of Broad Street. Two males: one with a knife and one with a bat, entered the premises and robbed the female employee of cash. In a struggle, the suspect with the knife slashed the victim’s arm. The males fled before police arrived.
- On December 4, 2016, police were dispatched to a robbery at a restaurant in the 300 block of Albert Street. Two men entered the building, as a restaurant patron exited. One male was armed with a hatchet-type of weapon and bear spray; the other carried a long barreled firearm. The suspects demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash and then left the restaurant, fleeing in a waiting vehicle.
- On December 30, 2016, police received a report of a shoplifting incident at a business in the 4800 block of Gordon Road. In this event, the fire alarm in the store was pulled and in the ensuing evacuation of the building, a male exited the store with merchandise that had not been purchased. The store security video provided evidence that led to the identification of a viable suspect.
On Monday, February 27, 2017, RPS patrol members were dispatched to call of a suspicious person in the 1200 block of Pasqua Street. The caller described a male dressed in dark clothes, peering over fences and going into yards. Officers located a male hiding in the area. He was identified and taken into custody without incident. Subsequent investigation into this individual and his recent activities resulted in numerous charges. Investigation into the incidents described above is ongoing. Anyone who has information to assist in these investigations is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
