On Saturday, January 14, 2017, at approximately 11:17 p.m., police were dispatched to a coffee shop on the 5800 block of Rochdale Boulevard. Information received was that a person was seen carrying a weapon. Police arrived and found a group of youths, and checked for weapons. Three of the youths in the group, a 14 year-old male, a 15 year-old male, and a 16 year-old male, were found to be in possession of knives and firearms. Upon further investigation, the firearms were determined to be CO2 pellet guns, made of metal and very realistic in appearance. The three youths were charged.
The male youths cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The 16 year-old male is charged with possession of a weapon [CC 88] (firearm) and carrying a concealed weapon [CC 90] (firearm).
The 15 year-old male is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon [CC 88] (firearm and knife) and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon [CC 90] (firearm and knife).
The 14 year-old male is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon [CC 88] (firearm and knife) and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon [CC 90] (firearm and knife).
The youths are scheduled to make their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at 9:30 a.m.
