An eighteen year-old Regina male is facing a charge of Attempted Murder after an incident last week in which a 36 year-old female was seriously injured.
At approximately 8:22 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016, police were dispatched to the 200 block of Froom Crescent for a report of a break and enter in progress in which a female member of the household was injured. Police and EMS arrived and located an adult female who had sustained numerous puncture wounds. She was able to give an initial statement to police; she indicated she’d been asleep and woke when she was assaulted by a male who jabbed her with an instrument, later found to be a type of tool used in sheet metal work. The suspect male was identified as an individual who was renting accommodation at the same residence. The male fled the area in a vehicle, registered to him. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of her injuries. Police were able to disseminate information about the vehicle and suspect and checked several locations in Regina. In the early afternoon of December 5th, investigators learned RCMP in Manitoba had detained the suspect when his vehicle went off the road near Virden, Manitoba. A warrant was requested for this individual on a charge of Attempt Murder. He was returned to Regina on Friday, December 9, 2016.
