A 19 year-old male is facing firearms-related charges after an incident on June 26, 2016, in which a male pointed what appeared to be a firearm at two children, ages ten and eleven.
On Sunday, June 26, 2016, police were dispatched to the 4700 block of Dewdney Avenue after the parents of two children reported that a male, dressed in black, had pointed a gun at them from the opposite side of the street. Police searched the area and located a male in dark clothing on a bicycle. When police approached him, the male fled. Police later located the same male in the 1500 block of Horace Avenue and found a pellet handgun in his backpack. The male was subsequently charged an held for court.
Nineteen year-old Branson Elijah MERCREDI, DOB: 1996-07-14, of Regina, is charged with Possession of a Weapon for the Purpose of Committing and Offence [88 CC]; two charges of Assault With a Weapon [267(a) CC]; Use of a Firearm in Commission of an Indictable Offence [85(1)(a) CC]; Carrying a Concealed Weapon [90 CC]; and Breach of Recognizance [811 CC]. MERCREDI made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016.
