A male youth is facing multiple charges after a series of instances on Saturday, June 25, 2016.
On Saturday, June 25, 2016, at approximately 2:39 p.m., officers were notified of a stolen vehicle in Regina which was reported stolen in Wadena, Saskatchewan. The vehicle was occupied by three people, who then abducted a female youth while at Mount Pleasant Park. The female was known to the male driver, who was also a youth. The vehicle was involved in a hit and run with a pedestrian who attempted to stop the incident from occurring. The vehicle was found later at 8:20 p.m. in another hit and run incident on 13th Avenue and Wallace Street, and the occupants of the vehicle fled. A sixteen year-old male and a thirteen year-old female were located nearby on the 2200 block of Winnipeg Street and were arrested and charged.
The male youth charged in this incident cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The 16 year-old male accused is facing a total of five charges:
• Abduction of a Person Under Fourteen Years of Age [Sec 281, CC],
• Assault with a Weapon [Sec 267(A), CC],
• Fail to Stop at the Scene of Accident [Sec 252(1.1), CC],
• Fail to Comply with Undertaking [Sec 145(3), CC],
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 [Sec 355(A), CC].
The female youth charged in this incident cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The 13 year-old female accused is charged with:
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 [Sec 355(A), CC].
Both male and female youths made their first appearances on these charges in Youth Provincial Court this morning (Monday, June 27, 2016) at 9:30 a.m.
