A 25 year-old Regina male is facing charges in connection with a domestic-related assault on Saturday April 2, 2016, at a residence in the 100 block of McKee Crescent.
At approximately 10:56 a.m., on Saturday, April 2, 2016, police were dispatched to a house in the 100 block of McKee Crescent for a report that a female inside the residence needed help. Police arrived and were able to speak with the victim, an 18 year old female, who indicated she’d been assaulted and initially prevented from leaving the house. Her assailant was someone known to her. The female indicated she believed the male was in possession of a handgun and body armour. A number of police units arrived onscene and made contact with the male suspect, eventually persuading him to leave the house and be taken into custody. An initial search of the premises yielded body armour and a quantity of ammunition. A subsequent warrant search yielded brass knuckles and a quantity of a substance later established to be cocaine.
Twenty-five year-old Chisokwa CHIPANSHI, DOB: 1990-12-19, of Regina, is charged with Assault [266 CC]; Forcible Confinement [279(2) CC]; Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon (brass knuckles) [91(2) CC]; Possession of Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) [5(2) CDSA]; and Mischief Under $5,000 [430(4) CC]. CHIPANSHI made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2016.
