A 28 year-old Regina male is facing charges in connection to a stolen auto incident yesterday and a 21 year-old female is facing a charge of Public Mischief in connection to the same event.
On April 21, 2016, at approximately 1:23 p.m., the Regina Police Service received a call from an individual reporting that her car had just been stolen in the 3200 block of Hill Avenue. The caller also indicated her four year-old child was in the vehicle, which prompted an immediate large-scale police response. Police found the vehicle a few minutes later, parked in the 1700 block Wallace Street. It was empty. Police entered a residence in the 1700 block Wallace Street, still thinking there was a child involved in this incident and, through investigation, learned that the original information was false. There was not a child in the car at the time it was stolen; the complainant does not have any children. Investigation led to charges against a male suspect for the theft of auto. The original complainant: a 21 year-old female, was also charged with public mischief.
Twenty-eight year-old Dustin William St. DENIS, DOB: 1987-07-15, of Regina, is facing four charges of Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC]; one charge of Theft of Motor Vehicle [333.1(1) CC]; and on charge of Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000 [355(b) CC]. The female accused will not be named in this release as she is also the victim of the auto theft; however, she is charged with Public Mischief [140(c) CC].
St. DENIS made his initial court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. this morning: Friday, April 22, 2016. The female accused person was released on a recognizance to appear in Provincial Court on May 31, 2016.
