Two people are facing several charges in connection with numerous recent thefts from local retailers. On April 3rd, 2016, as a result of ongoing investigation, patrol and property crimes officers carried out a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle in the 1800 block of Park Street. Items of stolen property were located in the vehicle and the male suspect and a female driver were arrested without incident. The vehicle and the stolen property inside the vehicle were seized.
Officers obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 600 block of Broadway Avenue, which they believed was related to the incidents. Officers located and seized stolen property inside the residence.
Forty-five year-old Cory James SAYER (DOB: 1970/09/05) of Regina, was charged with twelve charges:
- Eleven charges of Theft Shoplifting Under $5000 [Sec 334(B), CC]; and
- One charge of Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 [Sec 355.3, CC].
Forty-six year-old Melanie Rose BANKS (DOB: 1969/10/16) of Regina, was charged with four charges:
- Three charges of Theft Shoplifting Under $5000 [Sec 334(B), CC]; and
- One charge of Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 [Sec 355.3, CC].
Both SAYER and BANKS made their first appearances in Provincial Court on these charges this morning (Monday, April 4, 2016) at 9:30 a.m.
