A 22 year-old male and three male youths: ages 14, 15 and 17, are facing Second-Degree Murder charges in connection with the death of a 26 year-old male on Saturday, February 20, 2016. This is the first homicide in Regina in 2016.
On Saturday, February 20, 2016, at approximately 1:43 a.m., police were dispatched to the 700 block of Garnet Street in Regina for a report of an injured male. Police and EMS attended and the injured male was confirmed deceased a short time later in hospital. Investigation involved the RPS Major Crimes Unit, the Office of the Chief Coroner, Forensic Identification Unit, and uniformed members of the Community Services Division. Through investigation, police were able to determine that male suspects had emerged from a house in the 700 block Garnet Street and an altercation occurred between the males and the victim. When the victim collapsed, the males fled back into the house. Police located four males and five females in the house. They were taken into custody and interviewed. The females were released without being charged. The four males have been charged with Second Degree Murder and other offences.
The family of the deceased victim has been notified of his death. The victim is 26 year-old Joshua Michael HARDEN, DOB: 1989-12-02, of Regina.
The three youths cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The three are jointly charged with Second Degree Murder [235(1) CC]. The 14 year-old is also facing three charges of Breach of Undertaking [2 x 145(5.1) and 145(3) CC]. The 15 year-old also faces a charge of Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC] and Obstruct Peace Officer [129(a) CC]. The 17 year-old also faces a charge of Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC]. The three youths will appear in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2016.
Twenty-two year-old Skylar Blue ALEXSON, DOB: 1993-04-17, of Regina, is charged with Second Degree Murder [235(1) CC] and Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]. ALEXSON will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m., on Monday February 22, 2016.
