The Regina Police Service is conducting an investigation into a serious assault after receiving a call for service on Thursday, December 17, 2015.
On Thursday, December 17, 2015, at approximately 8:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the 400 block of Lorne Street in Regina for a report of an injured male. Police and EMS attended and the male was transported to the hospital. Last evening, on Thursday, December 17, 2015, a 36 year-old male was arrested and charged.
Thirty-six year-old Hartley Joseph MATECHUK (DOB: 1979-07-19), of Regina, was arrested and charged with:
- Attempted Murder [Sec 239, CC],
- Forcible Confinement [Sec 279(2), CC],
- Uttering Threats [Sec 264.1(1)(a), CC]
MATECHUK will make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning at 9:30 a.m.
The RPS Major Crimes Unit, the Street Gang Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, and uniformed members of the Community Services Division continue to investigate.
