A joint investigation that involved members of the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit and members from the RCMP Punnichy detachment and Yorkton GIS, resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence located in Semans, Saskatchewan on Tuesday July 14, 2015.
On Monday July 13, 2015, Punnichy RCMP arrested David Michael MACDONALD (DOB-1944-08-16) at his residence without incident after police received information of an altercation that resulted in MACDONALD allegedly pointing a firearm at another person while threatening them. During the investigation, police learned that MACDONALD may also be in possession of Child Pornography.
Through the search of the residence multiple firearms were located and seized as well as evidence of MACDONALD possessing Child Pornography. Numerous computer related devices were also seized.
MACDONALD has been charged with:
- Possession of Child Pornography
- Threatening
- Point Firearm
- Use of a firearm while committing an indictable offence
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Unsafe storage of Firearms x 4
MACDONALD will be making his first court appearance on Friday, at 0930 hrs, at Regina Provincial Court.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the R.C.M.P., Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
