The Regina Police Service can now confirm that a death reported on Monday, January 12, 2015, is a homicide. Police have a suspect in custody and are continuing their investigation, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.
This investigation began on Monday, January 12, 2015 at approximately 5:43 p.m., when police and EMS were dispatched to a home in the 400 Block of Garnet Street North for a report of an injured, possibly deceased, person. Police located a 16 year-old female inside the residence, who was confirmed deceased by EMS. The identity of the deceased person has been confirmed and her family has been notified, but her name will not be released at this time. As the result of investigation into this matter, a male suspect has been taken into custody; however, there are no other details for release at this early stage in the investigation.
