The Regina Police Service is no longer pursuing a criminal investigation into what was reported as a stabbing incident this morning at the Pasqua Hospital in the 4100 block Dewdney Avenue. This incident resulted in a 69 year-old male sustaining serious injuries; however, it now appears the injuries were self-inflicted.
The incident happened just before 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Pasqua Hospital in the 4100 block Dewdney Avenue. It was initially reported to police as a stabbing and possible robbery. Immediately after the event occurred, investigators worked with RQHR security to determine how the male had sustained the injuries and to try to identify a possible suspect. As a result of investigation, police have now concluded that this is not a criminal case; the evidence indicates the injuries sustained by the male were self-inflicted. The male is in hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Police will carry the matter to its conclusion.
