A 24 year-old Regina male is facing weapons and drug charges after an Emergency Services callout on Friday night at a house in the 3500 block of Dewdney Avenue. This was a CDSA (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) warrant, the result of ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in the City of Regina.
Just before 10:20 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014, police set up a safety perimeter in the area around the 3500 block of Dewdney Avenue, blocking vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The RPS Communications Centre staff and patrol officers alerted nearby residents to ensure their safety as the operation unfolded. A police armoured vehicle (TAV, or Tactical Armoured Vehicle) was used to ensure the safety of officers as they approached the house and at 10:22 p.m., the first of several people exited the house. They were taken safely into custody without incident. There were also a number of dogs in the house; Animal Protection was on hand to ensure proper handling and care of the dogs, which were then released to a family member of the suspect. One male was charged as the result of this investigation. Other occupants of the house were released without charge.
Twenty-four year-old Keith Campbell SCHELL, DOB: 1989-11-01, of Regina is charged with three charges of Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order [117.01(1) CC] and one charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance [4(5) CDSA].
