The Regina Police Service would like to remind the public to that we have received reports of individuals selling merchandise from vehicles and misleading potential buyers of the value.
One report indicated that two males approached people in store parking lots looking to sell electronic merchandise. In this instance the sellers showed packaged items with price stickers indicating their suggested retail values. The sellers then indicated that they were looking to offload the items quickly so were willing to take a significant discount off of the stickered prices. Another report indicated that the electronics for sale were alleged to be left over from a job so they could be sold at a great discount.
After making a purchase, one buyer became concerned that the items were stolen and reported to police. Investigation revealed the items for sale were not in fact stolen goods, but cheap components with exaggerated prices attached.
The individuals selling these items will try to get as much money for the item as they can with the potential buyer believing the value indicated on the sticker, while the merchandise’s retail price was in fact worth much lower than the sticker value’s suggestion.
In both instances rental vehicles were used with Alberta license plates.
Buyer beware!
