A 19 year-old Regina male is facing five charges after a weapons offence early Saturday.
On Saturday, January 18, 2014, at approximately 5:20 a.m., police were dispatched to a restaurant on the 2600 block of Dewdney for the report of a male with a firearm. It is alleged that while three males waited at the counter for a takeout order, one of the males made threatening comments to another patron.
Upon arrival at the scene, police located the three suspects congregating at a table. Police announced their presence, had the suspects place their hands in the air, and seized and secured the weapon: a loaded .22 caliber sawed off rifle.
Nineteen year-old Michael John YEWMAN, DOB: 1994-12-15, of Regina, is charged with Possession of a Weapon [88 CC], Possession of a Loaded or Restricted Prohibited Firearm [95(1)(a) CC], Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [91(1) CC], Careless Use of Firearm/Weapon/Device/Ammunition [86(1) CC], and Carrying Concealed Prohibited Device/Ammunition [90 CC]. YEWMAN made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2014.
