The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, is conducting a homicide investigation, after the death of a 24 year-old female this morning, Thursday, October 31, 2013. This is the 8th homicide in Regina in 2013.
Police were dispatched after a call this morning at 2:49 a.m., to the 700 block of Athol Street, for a report of two females fighting in the street. Police and EMS arrived and found a female victim, who had been seriously injured. EMS provided emergency medical treatment at the scene and then transported the victim to hospital, but she was pronounced deceased shortly after. Police investigation has led to several people being taken into custody, but at this early stage in this investigation, the roles and involvement of those persons has not been determined. The deceased person has been identified as a 24 year-old Regina woman and notification of her next-of-kin is underway. Her name will not be released at this time.
