The Regina Police Service is advising the media and members of the public of a scheduled training scenario for Regina Police Service Emergency Services teams taking place tomorrow, Wednesday, September 18, 2012, from approximately 9:00 a.m. to approximately 3:00 p.m. in the 10 block of Athol Street.
This training session is part of Emergency Services regular training and will involve members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, Crisis Negotiators Team (CNT) and Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU). Residents in the neighbourhood have been notified as well as the nearest schools in the area (Sacred Heart, Scott Collegiate, Kitchener, Albert, and Wascana) and should not be affected in any way by the training, although the exercise will be in progress during the noon hour. People in the area will be able to carry on with their daily activities; however, they will notice police members in regular tactical attire as well as a number of police vehicles in the 10 block of Athol Street and the immediate area. There is no cause for concern, as this is a training exercise only. There will be no ammunition involved in this exercise.
