A 12 year-old male youth has been charged with Arson following investigation into an incident on Sunday, July 14, 2013 in the Rosemont neighbourhood.
On July 14, 2013, police were dispatched at about 11:10 a.m. to a garage fire on Merritt Crescent. Members of Regina Fire and Protective Services were already at the scene. The file was sent for investigation by the Commercial Crime, which investigates cases of suspected arson. The damage to the detached garage was estimated to be $25,000. On July 15, 2013, as the result of investigation, a 12 year-old male youth was arrested and charged in connection with this incident.
The youth cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He has been charged with Arson/Damage to Property, contrary to section 434 of the Criminal Code of Canada. He has been released and will make his first court appearance on this charge in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
