A 31 year-old Regina will be facing charges following a fatal two-vehicle motor-vehicle collision early this morning in Regina. A 20 year-old female is deceased and a 21 year-old male is in hospital as a result of the collision.
At approximately 12:59 a.m. today, Sunday, June 30, 2013, police were dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving a truck and car at the intersection of Wascana Drive and Broad Street. Police arrived and located three people: a female, who was pronounced deceased by EMS at the scene; a 21 year-old male, who was taken to hospital by EMS with undetermined injuries; and a 31 year-old male. The preliminary investigation indicates that a car, driven by the female with the 21 year-old male as a passenger, was westbound on Wascana Drive and may have been turning left, or south-bound, onto Broad Street. A truck, driven by the 31 year-old male, was northbound on Broad Street. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, with the main point of impact between the front end of the truck and the driver’s side door of the car. The deceased female has been identified and her next of kin have been notified; however, police will not be releasing her name at this time. The male passenger in the car remains in hospital.
The 31 year-old male driver of the truck is in police custody and it’s expected there will be charges at the conclusion of this investigation. There are no other details for release at this time.
