A 17 year-old male will be in Youth Court today on a charge of Aggravated Assault following an incident on Saturday, May 11, 2013, that sent an adult male to hospital with serious injuries.
On Saturday, May 11, 2013, at about 6:38 p.m., police were dispatched to a house in the 300 block of Angus Street for a report of a male injured in an altercation. Police arrived and found a 36 year-old male who appeared to be seriously injured. The victim was taken to hospital by EMS. A male youth present at the house was taken into custody without incident. The suspect and victim are members of the same household, so police investigated this event as a domestic-related assault. The investigation led to charges against the 17 year-old male.
The 17 year-old accused cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He is charged with Aggravated Assault, contrary to section 268(1) of the Criminal Code. The youth will make his first court appearance on the charge in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013.
