Two males, ages 16 and 19, are facing robbery charges after a purse-snatching incident in the 2300 block of Albert Street on Friday, April 19, 2013.
At about 12:25 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013, police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Albert Street for a robbery. The victim, a 50 year-old woman, was walking through a parking lot when two males approached, stole her purse, and ran. The victim was not harmed in the incident. A 16 year-old male matching a suspect description, carrying a wooden stick with a belt buckle attached at the end, was arrested nearby without incident. K9 attended the scene and tracked the second male to the 0-99 block of Angus Crescent and he was also arrested without incident.
The 16 year-old cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The 19 year-old accused is Kahn Christian BRIGHOUSE, D.O.B (1993-12-20), of Regina. Both are charged with Robbery [343(b) CC]. The youth was also charged with Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose [88 CC]. The youth will make his first appearance in Youth Court today, April 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. and BRIGHOUSE makes his first court appearance, also at 2:00 p.m. today, in Provincial Court.
