Details are now available on the results of a recent investigation into methamphetamine trafficking in the city of Regina. Three people: two males and a female; made court appearances on Monday on charges arising from a vehicle stop and the search of a suite, which yield a total of 140 grams of methamphetamine and over $8,000 cash. Two of the accused are from Calgary, one is from Regina.
This investigation came about as the result of ongoing investigation into illegal narcotics trafficking in the city of Regina by the Regina Integrated Drug Unit, which is made up of members of the Regina Police Service and Royal Canadian Mounted Police. On Friday, March 1, 2013, RIDU officers were conducting surveillance on two males suspected to be involved in the trafficking of methamphetamine. One of the males was identified as an individual wanted for arrest for a breach of court-ordered conditions. Both males were in a 1997 Acura Integra when police carried out a vehicle stop after 3:00 p.m. just east of downtown Regina. One of the suspects was arrested outside of the vehicle; however, the driver attempted to evade police and struck one of the officers, causing him relatively minor injuries. Both men were arrested without further incident. Search of these individuals and the vehicle led to the discovery of about 28 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine and approximately $8,000. Further investigation led to police obtaining a search warrant for a suite nearby. A female was arrested at this location and the search yielded about 112 grams of methamphetamine, approximately $200 cash and paraphernalia used in drug packaging and distribution. The three were subsequently charged in connection with this investigation.
