A 21 year-old man is facing numerous charges in connection with an incident of dangerous driving.
On March 15, 2013, at 2:50 AM two police officers were investigating an impaired driver on Park Street and Ross Avenue when it was side swiped by a large truck. The truck then drove over the median and fled the scene. Both officers were inside the vehicle when it was struck. As a result of the collision, both officers had minor injuries.
A search for the vehicle ended when the truck was discovered near the outskirts of Regina on Fleet Street. The driver was found to be impaired and was arrested. A .50 caliber rifle was discovered in the vehicle.
Twenty-one year-old Matthew BALOGH (DOB 1991-04-28), of Regina is charged with Careless Use of Firearm [86(1) CC], two counts of Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm – Alcohol [255 (2) CC] and Exceed .08 [253(1)(b) CC], Fail to Stop or Remain [252(1.1) CC], and two counts of Hit and Run Causing Bodily Harm [252(1.2) CC]. BALOGH made his first court appearance on the charges at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2013.
