Two male youths, ages 16 and 17, have been arrested and charged in a Hit and Run incident overnight involving a stolen vehicle. Fortunately there were no serious injuries resulting from the collision. One of the youths also faces additional charges in connection to two recent Break and Enters.
On Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at about 4:00 a.m., police were dispatched to a report of a hit and run collision at 4th Avenue and Albert Street. A vehicle stopped at a red light in a southbound lane was struck from behind by a white Pontiac Grand Am. Two male youths got out of the Grand Am and ran, without giving the driver of the other vehicle any information. Police determined that the Grand Am had been reported stolen from a house on Stice Crescent the day before. With the help of a Canine team, patrol located and arrested two male youths not far from the location of the collision. One of the youths sustained injuries from contact with the police dog and resisting arrest. He was taken to hospital for treatment. The other youth indicated he had hurt his ankle and was also taken to hospital for medical attention.
