The Regina Police Service arrested a 29 year-old male early this morning in Regina in connection with an RCMP investigation into an apparent stabbing and robbery last night in the Fillmore District.
At 3:27 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2012, police received a call with information stating that suspects involved in an apparent robbery and stabbing in the Fillmore District were at a Regina motel in the 800 block of Victoria Street. The 42 year-old male victim was apparently being treated in a Regina hospital after the incident, which is believed to have happened before 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30th. Police arrived at the motel, established a perimeter and attempted to make contact with the suspect individuals. A male was taken in custody as he exited the motel. Believing there may still be other suspects in two of the motel rooms, police continued attempts to make contact. Other guests at the motel were evacuated from the building. At approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team entered one, and then a second, room at the motel. No suspects were found. The building was cleared and guests were permitted to return. Regina Police Service members continued to hold the two rooms, believing them to be associated to the RCMP investigation into the stabbing and robbery in the Fillmore District.
The Regina Police Service continues to act in assistance to the RCMP in its investigation of the original event.
