Two males, ages 40 and 37, are facing a number of charges in connection with a recent break and enter to an apartment building and the theft of mail belonging to the building’s residents.
On October 15, 2016, police were dispatched to a break in at an apartment building in the 2700 block of College Avenue. The front door of the building was damaged when suspects broke in; police learned the suspects had also broken into the mailboxes of the tenants of the building. The investigation of this break-in led to identification of two males. These suspects were arrested, without incident, just after 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, outside a hotel in the 1700 block of Victoria Avenue. Both suspects are alleged to have been in possession of stolen mail; one of the suspects is alleged to have been in possession of cocaine and methamphetamine. The two were charged and held for court. Investigators continue to work on this case.
Forty year-old James Donald PROVOST, DOB: 1976-04-27, of Edmonton, Alberta, is charged with:
– Possession of a scheduled substance (methamphetamine), s. 4(1) CDSA;
– Possession of a scheduled substance (cocaine), s. 4(1) CDSA;
– 2 x Breach of Probation, s. 733.1(1) CC;
– Break, Enter and Commit Theft, s. 348(1)(b) CC; and
– Possession of Stolen Mail, s. 356(1)(b) CC.
Thirty-seven year-old Brad WASELENCHUK, DOB: 1979-06-12, of Regina, is charged with:
-Possession of Stolen Mail, s. 356(1)(b) CC; and
– 2 x Breach of Probation, s. 733.1(1) CC.
Both accused made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. today (Thursday, October 20, 2016). This investigation is ongoing, with further charges anticipated.
