A 31 year-old male, who is a two-year constable with the Regina Police Service, is facing a charge of common assault following an RCMP investigation into a report of an assault on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in the Edenwold District. The police officer was not on duty at the time of the alleged assault.
The assault is alleged to have occurred at about 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at a home in the Edenwold District. The parties in this incident are known to each other. Yesterday, upon receiving word of the charge against the member, the Regina Police Service placed him on administrative leave. Chief Troy Hagen will decide on the administrative duties suitable for the member within the building, until the member’s first court appearance. At that time, the officer’s work assignment will be re-evaluated and any appropriate changes made.
Thirty-one year old Scott Frederick DOUGLAS, DOB: 1981-02-22, of Regina, is charged with Common Assault, contrary to Section 266 of the Criminal Code. DOUGLAS will make his first court appearance on this matter in Provincial Court on Monday, June 18, 2012.
In addition, the Regina Police Service will conduct a separate, administrative review of the officer’s actions, pursuant to The Police Act, 1990.
