The Regina Police Service is continuing its investigation into an apparent homicide that occurred early the morning of Saturday, May 7, 2011. The investigation began with the discovery of the body of a young male on the lawn of a property near the intersection of 8th Avenue and Rae Street.
At approximately 5:12 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011, police officers, on a routine, unrelated call, came across a male lying on the ground in the area of 8th Avenue and Rae Street in Regina. EMS was called to the scene and confirmed the male was deceased. The officers secured the area, requesting additional resources, including the Coroner, Major Crimes and Forensic Identification investigators. The Coroner has ordered an autopsy into this death. The death is being treated as a homicide, pending the results of the autopsy. The 16 year-old male victim has been identified and notification to has been made to his next of kin. The victim is a Young Person; therefore, his identity will not be made public by police.
At this time, police continue to hold and examine a scene believed to be related to the homicide; investigators are conducting interviews and awaiting the autopsy results.
