A 26 year-old male, a former police officer with the Regina Police Service, has been charged with impaired driving following an investigation into an incident last December.
On December 13, 2010, police were called to the scene of a collision at Albert Street and 3rd Avenue North. A vehicle had struck a fire hydrant and was abandoned in the street. The driver of the vehicle was not present at the scene. Police attempted to locate the registered owner of the vehicle at his residence, but did not find him there. Later that morning, at about 10:40 a.m., the driver of the vehicle was located by police. The driver was a Regina Police Service constable, with just under one year of service; however, the vehicle was the officer’s personal car and the incident did not occur while the officer was on duty. The officer resigned from the Regina Police Service on December 20, 2010. Subsequent investigation into the collision led to a charge, on May 26, 2011, of impaired driving against the 26 year-old male.
Twenty-six year-old Clayton Royce FORD, DOB: 1985-01-07, of Regina, is charged with Impaired Driving [253(1)(a) CC]. FORD will make his first court appearance on the charge in Provincial Court on July 14, 2011.
