Two people, a male and a female, have been charged in connection with a purse-snatching incident on January 25th in Regina.
On Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at about 7:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the 4200 block of Rae Street for the report of a purse-snatching robbery. A 28 year-old female was entering her apartment building when another female followed her inside and then grabbed her purse. The two struggled for a few moments with the suspect finally taking some cash from the victim and leaving. A witness to this event followed the suspect female to a vehicle, but was told by the male driver that he was an undercover police officer arresting the female. Investigation into this event led to identification of two suspects. The female suspect was arrested on February 3, 2011, on an unrelated breach of undertaking and then charged in connection with the January 25th robbery. Further investigation led to the arrest of the male suspect on Monday, February 7, 2011.
Twenty-six year old Tiffany Toro PAWELKO, DOB: 1984-08-20, of Regina is charged with Robbery [344(b) CC]. PAWELKO also faces an unrelated charge of Breach of Undertaking [145(5.1) CC]. PAWELKO appeared in Provincial Court today, February 7, 2011, at 9:30 a.m. Twenty-nine year-old Derek Darelle FISHER, DOB: 1981-12-20, of Regina is charged with Robbery 344(b) CC] and Personating a Police Officer [130(a) CC]. FISHER will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011.
