A fifteen year-old Regina female faces two charges as the result of a disturbance at a Regina high school on Wednesday, September 22, 2010. The teen will make her first court appearance on the charges in October.
This event began shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at a high school in east Regina in the 400 block of Fines Drive. Police were dispatched at 1:16 p.m. for a report of disturbance and a possible weapons offence. After investigation, it is alleged a 15 year-old female student threw a chair/stool at a teacher and overturned a desk. The teacher was not injured. The teacher and other students vacated the classroom while the student allegedly continued to cause damage. When police arrived, the female was taken into custody without further incident.
The accused cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. She is facing a charge of Assault With a Weapon (a stool), contrary to Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code, and Mischief Under $5,000 (a window), contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code. This individual will be in Youth Court on October 19, 2010.
