A third male youth, 16 years old, is facing numerous charges in connection with two incidents that occurred in Regina on May 22, 2010. Two other male youths, ages 15 and 17, are also facing charges in connection with the same incidents.
The arrest of the 16 year-old occurred on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. The charges stem from continued investigation into a robbery on May 22nd that occurred at about 3:45 a.m. in the 1400 block of Robinson Street, in which a 17 year-old male was sprayed in the face with a substance believed to be bearspray and robbed of clothing; and a shooting on May 22nd that occurred at about 4:06 a.m. in the 1100 block of Wascana Street, involving a 21 year-old male victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the torso.
The youth, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act is charged with Robbery [343(a) CC] in connection to the incident on 1400 block Robinson Street. The youth also faces the following charges in connection to the shooting on the 1100 block of Wascana Street: Robbery, While Using a Firearm [344(1)(a.1) CC]; Attempted Murder [239(a.1) CC]; Assault with a Weapon (firearm) [267(a) CC]; Assault with a Weapon (baseball bat) [267(a) CC]; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle [94(1) CC]; Careless Use of a Firearm [86(1) CC]; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [91(1) CC]; and Discharging a Firearm With Intent [244(1) CC]. The youth will make his first court appearance on these charges in Youth Court tomorrow, Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at 9:30 a.m.
